About the Park
Cavalero Hill Park is a beloved community park with many great features for you and your family to enjoy. There is a three-acre off-leash dog area (OLDA), a one-fourth acre shy dog area, a sport court with basketball and foursquare, picnic facilities, a popular 18,000 sq. ft. skatepark, open play areas, walking trails, portable restrooms and it is surrounded by wetlands and natural areas.
History
This 35-acre park is located in the City of Lake Stevens and was developed in partnership between Snohomish County and the City of Lake Stevens. Prior to Snohomish County's acquisition, the property was used for agriculture. The park’s master plan was updated in 2014 to reflect the new park boundaries and current public desire for skate park and BMX facilities.
Future Phases
Phase 1: The Phase 1 renovation at Cavalero opened in 2020 and has been enormously popular. Check out YouTube for videos from the 18,000 square foot skatepark featuring a 12-ft deep bowl. Funding for the renovation was provided by Washington State, the City of Lake Stevens, Snohomish County and donations from Lake Stevens Rotary.
Phase 2: The long-range plan for Cavalero is to develop the park’s additional 3 phases by adding volleyball courts, expanding the off-leash dog areas and trail network, providing an indoor facility for BMX biking and adding three small business storefronts. There is no current timeline for the next phase of design and construction. See the Cavalero Hill Preferred Plan here.
Driving Directions
From Everett, take Hwy 2 heading east toward Snohomish over the Hewitt Avenue trestle. At the east end of the trestle, take the 20th Street exit heading up Cavalero Hill. Continue driving east to an intersection with traffic light at 79th Ave SE. Turn right onto 79th and right again into the park.
