Consider these tips for keeping your pet happy, healthy, and safe this winter:

* Work with your veterinarian to develop a winter care plan

* Provide plenty of fresh water and food

* Bring pets inside if feasible during extreme weather conditions

* Ensure your pet’s shelter is easily accessible; provides solid protection from rain, wind, and snow; and has a blanket, towel, or thick bedding

* Safeguard your pet from common winter hazards:
- Fireplaces and space heaters
- Salt, antifreeze, and other deicing chemicals

* Do not leave your pet alone in a vehicle

* Ensure your pet wears a collar and pet license in case of escape

Should you have any questions or concerns, contact your veterinarian.
