Crabbing season in Port Susan (Marine Area 8-2) opens July 1 and is only open Thursdays-Mondays. With the Kayak Point Park day-use area closing 7/5 for construction and 7/4 being a Tuesday, crabbing will only be open at Kayak Point July 1-3, 2023.
Crabbing is only open during park hours (dawn to dusk).
Each unattended trap must have its own buoy line and buoy that is legibly marked with the first name, last name, and permanent address of the licensed harvester.
- The daily limit throughout Puget Sound is five Dungeness crabs, hard-shell males only, with a minimum carapace width of 6 1/4 inches.
- Fishers may keep six red rock crabs of either sex per day in hard-shell condition and measuring at least 5 inches carapace width.
- Puget Sound crabbers must record their harvest on summer catch record cards right after retaining the crab and before re-deploying the trap. More info: wdfw.wa.gov
