Statement from Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers on Blake Fix

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., May 16, 2023 – The following statement from Executive Somers was released today in response to the legislature passing legislation to fix the Blake decision:

“I appreciate the legislature taking a balanced approach to this very complex issue. We need every tool available to ensure people receive the help they need, and our communities are safe. Illicit drugs, especially Fentanyl, are destroying communities, hurting businesses, and killing residents at an alarming rate in Snohomish County and across the state. The legislature’s actions today will help save lives and repair some of the damage done by substance use disorder. Snohomish County looks forward to working with the state on equitable distribution of funding and implementation of programs to save lives.”
