Representative Sought for Snohomish County Boundary Review Board


SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., February 15, 2023 –Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers seeks a nominee for the Boundary Review Board, a body that reviews and rules on proposed annexations and incorporations for cities and special purpose districts (e.g. water, sewer districts, etc.). The board consists of five total volunteers who are appointed by: the governor (two appointments); local cities (one appointment); the county (one appointment); and local special purpose districts (one appointment). The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in the Growth Management Act (RCW 36.70A), the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW 42.30), and the Appearance of Fairness Doctrine. Potential board members should have the ability to evaluate technical planning and environmental documents, economic reports, and testimony from the public. Additionally, a candidate must have the ability to apply state statutes to decision making and should have experience on a jurisdiction’s planning commission.


The Boundary Review Board benefits from members who offer diverse backgrounds and can share both professional and residential experiences in Snohomish County. An applicant cannot be a Snohomish County official, employee, advisor, or consultant, and:

  • Must be a Snohomish County resident 
  • Should bring a commitment to making Snohomish County a great place to live, work, and play
  • Should be able to attend scheduled board meetings and hearings (generally four per year although possibly more)
