New Treatment Center to Open Following Denney Juvenile Justice Center Remodel
Planning is underway for a 32-bed treatment center that will be incorporated into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center campus on 10th Street in Everett. The center will serve people with addiction and mental illness.
Denney does not house as many youth as was once planned because of reforms in juvenile justice and sentencing guidelines. Research proves there are better alternatives than locking up juvenile offenders. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin is supportive of the project, stating that it’s a great example of repurposing public space to best serve community needs.
This is one component of Snohomish County’s work to combat addiction, homelessness, mental illness, and crime.
