UPDATE 8/20/18 - We have attempted to allow the public to use the boat launch and swim beach at Wenberg on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Up until this weekend this plan worked great. Over the weekend however, there was significant invasion of the construction areas and malicious activity related to the construction equipment and partially built dock. For the sake of public safety, we can no longer allow the public access to these areas. As the contractor progresses with the dock, it will only become more of an attractive nuisance.
From this point forward, the swim beach is closed, the boat launch are closed and day-use at the park is closed. They will remain closed until the construction is complete and it is safe to open to the public.
The campground can remain open and campers will have continuous access to the north beachfront picnic area but there will be a 6’ fence preventing access into the construction zone.
UPDATE 7/18/18 - During the current phase of construction, the day-use parking lots and the swim beach will be open WEEKENDS ONLY (Friday through Sunday). The day-use/picnic area and a small section of waterfront, at the far north end of the park, will be open Monday through Thursday for visitors staying in the campground.
UPDATE 7/12/18 - The Day-Use picnic area renovation is complete and there is limited access to the swim beach. The boat launch remains closed.
The boat launch will remain open for use until June 1st, 2018, at which point it will be closed until September 30th, 2018 for construction. This type of in-water work is permitted by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the State Department of Ecology and is only allowed during this window of time to limit its impact to the fish population of Lake Goodwin. Access to the water, north of the swim beach, is possible but the designated swim area will be closed. For more information and project status, please visit the Wenberg Project page.
