First Annual Cinco de Mayo Carnival & Market May 5-7 in Monroe

Monroe, Wash., April 28, 2017 – Carnival Rides. Vendor Markets. Food Booths. Oh my! The first annual Cinco de Mayo Carnival & Market brings a little something for everyone to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. And the best part? Parking and most activities are free!

The event kicks off Friday, May 5, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with Carnival Rides by Butler Amusements and a Happy Hour until 6:00 p.m. at the Margarita and Beer Garden underneath the Grandstands. At 5:00 p.m., Cinco de Drifto (Tandem Drifting) will be going on at the Evergreen Speedway and admission is FREE! From 7:00-11:00 p.m., DJ “On The Spot” will take the stage playing Latin, Hispanic and Mexican Dance music underneath the Grandstands for a Cinco de Mayo Party. Throughout the evening there will be Mexican Food, Fisher Scones, Elephant Ears, Churros and other food options available for attendees and well as a Vendor Market under the Grandstands that benefits the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, May 6 the fiesta starts early with Carnival Rides beginning at 11:00 a.m. Family friendly activities include the Farmer for a Day interactive kid’s display, the Western Heritage Museum, and the 4H Horse Show. For shopping enthusiasts, the Swap & Shop Meet will be in Barn 610 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., the Evergreen Fair Foundation’s Homespun Bazaar will be in the Commercial Building from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., the Monroe Chamber Market will be in the Grandstands from 2:00-10:00 p.m., and the Washington Arms Collectors Gun Show will be in the Event Center from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. ($10 admission). Saturday night on the Speedway is NASCAR RACES and Military Appreciation Night! All active military with valid ID get a free family pass! Regular admission is $16 for adults, $10 for seniors and youth, and free for kids under 10. And don’t forget to stop by the Margarita and Beer Garden from 3:00-5:00 p.m. for Happy Hour!

The weekend comes to a close on Sunday, May 7 but not without another day packed with entertainment, shopping and food! Carnival rides open at 11:00 a.m., Hot Import Daze Car Show and Autocross will be at the Evergreen Speedway from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. ($20 admission), Monroe Chamber Market will be open from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., the Homespun Bazaar from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Swap & Shop Meet from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and the WAC Gun Show from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. ($10 admission). Food will be available all day including the Margarita and Beer Garden, Fisher Scones, Pioneer Popcorn, Dipping’ Dots, Taco Monte Alban, Corn Dogs, the Carnival Food Stand and Speedway Concessions.
