The Paintings of Jeffrey O’Boyle on Display in the Robert J. Drewel Building

EVERETT, WA, February 7, 2017 – The Snohomish County Arts Commission today announced a new art exhibit by Snohomish County artist Jeffrey O’Boyle that is on display in the lobby of the Robert J. Drewel Building through the month of April.

Jeffrey’s work is influenced by the rendering of landscape images from 18^th and 19^th century illuminist painters, as well as more recent 20^th century California and New England impressionist painters. His portrait subjects are rendered in a classical realist style using successive layers of glaze and shadows throughout the canvas, building toward opaque layers of paint to provide multi-dimensional visual and emotional effect, a technique established by 17^th century Dutch painters and currently practiced by many contemporary painters.

His work typically portrays personal experiences, including the diverse subjects he encountered while living or travelling throughout the mainland United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand.

Jeffrey received a B.A. in Art Education at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 1975 and spent the subsequent two years teaching Art at the high school and adult levels for the New South Wales Department of Education in Sydney, NSW, Australia. His artistic training also includes studying Figure Painting and Portrait Painting at the Seattle Academy of Realist Art (now the Gage Academy). He is a member of the Portrait Society of America (PSA) and Oil Painters of America (OPA). His work has been included in numerous exhibitions and private collections across the United States, from Seattle to New York, and Australia.

The Robert J. Drewel Building is located in downtown Everett at 3000 Rockefeller Ave and Wall Street. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular business hours.
