Keep your pet safe during the holidays

As the holiday season approaches, use the following information to keep your pet safe.

As the holiday season approaches, use the following information to keep your pet safe.

  • Mistletoe, Holly, Asian Lily, fresh Christmas trees, and Poinsettias are just some of the holiday plants that are poisonous to your pet.
  • Ensure your garbage bin is well-secure and inaccessible to your pet. 
  • Do not feed your pet the turkey carcass or foods high in fat - excessive consumption of fatty foods can result in pancreatitis.
  • Keep pets away from chocolate, raw garlic, grapes, onions, and raisins as these are toxic to your pet.
  • Burning candles, tinsel, and ornaments can cause serious injury to your pet.
  • Shelter your pet from New Year's fireworks and noisy poppers. Bring your pet indoors and away from the noise and play the radio or television to buffer the sounds. 
  • Ensure your pet is wearing a collar and is licensed and microchipped in case of escape
