Public Comment Welcome on Snohomish County’s Federal Grant Performance

Comments on performance under three grant programs for affordable housing and community development activities will be accepted through Friday, September 23

EVERETT, Wash., September 9, 2016—Snohomish County has recently released a draft performance report on its administration of over $9.8 million federal affordable housing and community development grants and now seeks review and comment from the public.

The “Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report” is a requirement the County must meet to receive the federal grant funds.  The report details progress made towards annual and five-year goals during the 2015 program year, which ran from July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016.  An online copy of the report is available at https://snohomishcountywa.gov/2892/Consolidated-Plan-for-2015-2019.

Key accomplishments for the year include:

  • Nine new units of affordable rental housing created for persons with developmental disabilities in Everett and Marysville,
  • Twelve families assisted with purchasing their first homes in Arlington, Everett, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, and Marysville,
  • Home repairs and rehabilitation for 466 low-income homeowners throughout the County,
  • Rehabilitation of three facilities serving people with disabilities in Arlington, Lynnwood, and Marysville,
  • Sidewalk and park improvements in Mountlake Terrace, and
  • Services provided to over 2,000 low-income persons, including homeless persons and persons with special needs.

Paper copies of the report are available at the downtown Everett public library, at the Snohomish County branches of the Sno-Isle Regional Library System, and at the Snohomish County Housing & Community Services Division office located on the Fourth Floor of the County Administration Building West, 3000 Rockefeller Ave, Everett, WA 98201.

The County administers the annual federal grants under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs.  The funds are provided to nonprofit organizations, public agencies, cities, and towns for affordable housing, public facility, infrastructure, and service projects that primarily benefit low-income people, families, and neighborhoods in Snohomish County.

Written comments are welcome and will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016. Send comments to Sue Tracy, at Sue.Tracy@snoco.org or at the Snohomish County Housing & Community Services Division address listed above.

To request a reasonable accommodation to provide the report, or to submit comments in another format, please contact Sue Tracy, at Sue.Tracy@snoco.org or at 425-388-3269 or at 711 for TTY users.
