A Series of Meetings for Snohomish County River Communities
Everett, Snohomish County—A series of summer meetings for property owners and waterway users that live or recreate on the Snohomish and Skykomish Rivers will begin this month. The first meeting features a panel discussion about the rights of property owners and the public, and the responsibilities of agencies and law enforcement. The second set of meetings will include an opportunity for community members and river users to learn about and help shape the planning for the Skykomish and Snohomish Rivers as a water trail.
Meeting #1
The Skykomish-Snohomish River Property Owners Forum
Wednesday, July 27, 2016, 6-8 pm
4-H Building at the Evergreen Fairgrounds

This meeting is hosted by Snohomish County and facilitated by Parks Director Tom Teigen.
Panel presentation and discussion will address:
- Questions private property owners have about law enforcement on the rivers
- Clarify agency roles, existing laws, and frequently asked questions
- Identify opportunities to build partnerships and address issues between private property owners, organized user groups, local communities, and law enforcement agencies
- Safety and public access information
Panelists will include representatives from: Snohomish County Sherriff’s Office; Washington State Department of Natural Resources; U.S. Forest Service, Mount Baker – Snoqualmie; WA State Parks; Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
This will be a panel presentation followed by a question and answer session from attendees.
Meeting #2: The Skykomish-Snohomish River Recreation Planning & Management Open House

Hosted by the Sky to Sound Water Trail Coalition and facilitated by Forterra
Event participants will:
- Learn about water trails and the opportunity for the Skykomish and Snohomish Rivers
- Discuss needs for fishers, boaters and other waterway users
- Identify infrastructure needs and opportunities
- Shape the development of the water trail management plan
This will be a presentation followed by workshop activities.
