Snohomish County Arts Commission Features New Exhibit
Alla Prima artist J Reynolds Dail exhibits her direct painting style
EVERETT, Wash., July 11, 2016—The Snohomish County Arts Commission today announced a new exhibit of paintings by J Reynolds Dail, a fine art oil painter living and working in Everett, WA. The exhibit will be hosted in the lobby of the Robert J. Drewel Building until August 31, 2016.
J Reynolds Dail received a BFA degree in Ceramics and Fine Art from the California College of the Arts. She holds memberships with the Mukilteo Arts Guild and the American Portrait Society. Her work has evolved from Abstract Expressionism in acrylics to impressionistic representational work in oils using a classical approach. Her favorite subjects are people and animals in their current environments, either outdoors or in. She paints en plein air, from photographs and from live models, alla prima, a technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered wet paint. This technique requires the artist to work very quickly before the first layers of paint dries.
“My objective in painting portraits is to find and convey the truth I find flowing from the heart through the eyes, so the viewer feels the sense of the subject at that moment,” said Dail.
Her paintings have been on exhibit locally at the Petite Sweet Bakery in Everett, The Red Cup Café in Mukilteo, the Lynnwood Library, and the Fisherman's Market and Grill at the Everett Marina. Her paintings hang in private homes from England to New York and from Iowa to California.
The Robert J. Drewel Building is located in downtown Everett at 3000 Rockefeller Avenue (corner of Rockefeller and Wall). The exhibit is free and is open to the public during regular business hours.
