ICS 400: Advanced ICS for Command and General Staff
Course Description:
This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). This course expands upon information covered in the ICS 100 through ICS 300 courses, which are prerequisites for ICS 400.

Course Objectives:
• Explain how major incidents engender special management challenges.
• Describe the circumstances in which an Area Command is established.
• Describe the circumstances in which Multi-Agency Coordination Systems are established.
Prerequisites:
• IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS) (any version)
• IS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (any version)
• IS-700 National Incident Management System (any version)
• IS-800 National Response Framework, An Introduction (any version)
• ICS-300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents
Target Audience:
The target audience for this course includes experienced senior emergency
management personnel who may perform in a management capacity for major or complex incidents. This group includes individuals who may serve as the Incident Commander, as a member of a Unified Command, or as members of the Command or General Staff, or Multiagency Coordination Group/Emergency Operations Center (EOC) management for incidents that may use an Area Command.
Course Length
**2** Days (16 hours). (Wed/Thurs) February 8-9 2023
We will meet from 8:00 AM to 5:00pm (30 min lunch).
There will be a 30-minute break for lunch. While we do not provide lunch, we do offer use of freezers, refrigerators, and microwave ovens that you are welcome to use, or there are many restaurants and fast-food options nearby.
Some local favorites include “Pickle Time”, “Chops”, “Memos” and “Zoey’s Chicken”.
