CIU Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Snohomish FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 26, 2021 CONTACT: Courtney O’Keefe, Director of Communications, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Courtney.O’Keefe@snoco.org, 425-388-3865, Media line: 425-249-6263 SNOHOMISH, Wash. –The Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash near the 6800 block of Machias Road around 2:20 p.m. yesterday. A motorcycle was traveling on S. Machias Road when it missed a curve, continued straight and crashed a short distance off the roadway. The driver of the motorcycle, a 64-year-old man, died at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours Sunday afternoon while detectives investigated the crash. CIU detectives are still working to determine the cause of the crash, but at this time there are no indications of speed, drugs or alcohol being contributing factors. Identification of the deceased, as well as cause and manner, are pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. ###
