Snohomish PD Investigating a Domestic Violence Assault and Apparent Suicide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 23, 2021

CONTACT:  Chief Robert Palmer, rob.palmer@snoco.org (425) 388-6270

SNOHOMISH, Wash. – On Friday, April 23, 2021 at about 3:10 p.m., a 19-year-old Snohomish man went to his estranged girlfriend’s house in the 1600 block of Meadow Place, Snohomish, armed with a shotgun.  The 17-year-old former girlfriend was inside of the residence alone. After a brief verbal confrontation, and an attempt by the male to gain entry to the house, the female was able to escape from the house through a second story window and flee the scene.

It was reported that the male fired at least one round at, or towards the female as she fled, but she was not hit or injured.  The male then apparently took his own life with the shotgun, outside the residence. Snohomish PD officers arrived on scene within a few minutes of the call and determined that no other victims were present, and medics later confirmed the male was deceased.

Snohomish Police are investigating the incident with assistance from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.  No suspects are at large and there is no continuing danger to the public.  Further updates will be provided if there is additional information that becomes available.

Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
