EVERETT, Wash. – Early Saturday morning, the Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit responded to a single-vehicle fatal collision in the 5800 block of 20th St SE. The collision was discovered by a passerby shortly after 3 a.m. An Audi R8 lost control and left the roadway on the south side of 20th St SE where it struck a piling supporting water supply pipes. The driver and the passenger, a male in his 40s and a male in his 20s, both residents of Snohomish, were found deceased at the scene. One of the subjects had been ejected from the vehicle.
CIU detectives are still working to determine the cause of the collision, but detectives believe speed and heavy fog may have been contributing factors. The road remained closed for several hours during the investigation.
Positive identification of the decedents, as well as cause and manner of death, will come from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
