MARYSVILLE, Wash. – Around 11 a.m. today, following a standoff with police, a 33-year-old Spanaway man was arrested in Lakewood for second-degree murder. Around 8 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to reports of an assault occurring in a parking lot in the 10200 block of Quil Ceda Boulevard. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, a 35-year-old Lakewood woman, unconscious and immediately began life saving measures. The victim was transported by aid to Providence Regional Medical Center in critical condition. On Sunday night, the 35-year-old victim succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital.
During the investigation, detectives learned that earlier in the evening there was a domestic dispute inside the casino involving the suspect and the victim. The two then exited the casino and got into an SUV parked outside. Witnesses reported seeing the SUV shaking from side to side and seeing the male suspect assaulting the victim. As the vehicle began to drive away, witnesses observed the passenger door open and the victim fall out of the vehicle. The 33-year-old suspect fled the scene in his vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody around 11 a.m. today and is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for second-degree murder. This is an active investigation.
Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
