CIU Investigates Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – At 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision near the 3100 block of Larch Way. Witnesses observed a vehicle leaving the lane of travel and striking a jogger in the shoulder. The victim, a 34 year-old Lynnwood woman, was transported by aid to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The suspect initially fled the scene before calling into 911 saying he believes he struck something while driving. Deputies responded to his location and took the 34 year-old Lynnwood man into custody.
CIU detectives are still working to determine the cause of the collision, but believe the suspect was driving under the influence. The road was closed for several hours Wednesday night while detectives investigated the crash.
