CIU Investigates Fatal Collision in Snohomish

SNOHOMISH Wash. –The Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal collision near the 2900 block of Newberg Rd. Around 3:30 a.m., a call came in to 911 that a motorcycle had been struck by a vehicle. Detectives believe the 44 year-old male driver of a truck was traveling southbound on Newberg Rd when he passed another vehicle, striking a motorcycle that was traveling northbound head-on. The driver of the motorcycle, a male in his 30's, died at the scene. The driver of the truck tested positive for alcohol in his blood and has been booked into the Snohomish County jail for vehicular homicide. Identification of the deceased, as well as cause and manner, are pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
