CIU Investigating Single Rider Motorcycle Collision in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – The Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a single rider motorcycle collision in the 15900 block of Ash Way. At approximately 11:55 a.m., a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle with two riders not wearing helmets. The driver refused to stop and accelerated away from the deputy. No pursuit was initiated. Shortly after, the driver pulled over to the side of the road and dropped off the adult female passenger. Another deputy driving the opposite direction attempted to signal the motorcycle to stop. The driver refused and sped away. No pursuit was initiated. At the roundabout near 18th Ave W and Ash Way, the driver lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the roundabout. The driver, a 33 year-old Seattle man, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver has an active felony warrant.
The road will remain closed at 18th Ave W and Ash Way while CIU detectives investigate the scene.
