K9 teams Continue Searching for Missing Hiker at Vesper Peak

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) and Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue (SCVSAR) continue to search for missing hiker, Samantha Sayers, who did not return from her day hike at Vesper Peak on Wednesday, August 1.
This afternoon, K-9 teams were transported to the south side of Vesper Peak from Spada Lake. Teams plan to stay overnight on the mountain and began searching early in the morning. Additional K-9 units are expected to arrive on the mountain tomorrow. Approximately 14 search dogs are scheduled to participate in this weekend’s search operation.
Due to the search operation, the trailhead at Vesper Peak (Sunrise Mine Trail) will be closed tomorrow, Saturday, August 18.
If anyone has information about Sayers whereabouts, or saw her during her hike on Wednesday, August 1, please call 911.
