SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. –Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel and helicopter (SNOHAWK1), volunteers and other agencies from across Washington State continue to search this morning for missing hiker Samantha Sayers, who did not return from her day hike at Vesper Peak last Wednesday, August 1. Yesterday, King County Search and Rescue conducted an air search with Guardian 1, using FLIR (thermal imaging cameras) to search the area. Several trained SAR K9 teams and volunteers from across the state assisted with the search operation Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

One group of hikers reported seeing Sayers on her way up Vesper Peak around mid-morning on Wednesday. Another hiker reported seeing Sayers during her hike on Wednesday, eating lunch together and reported that he saw her walking south from the summit. That individual has been working closely with the Sheriff’s Office over the past few days to identify the location of where they had lunch and is participating in the search operation.
