EVERETT, WA – Sultan High School Resource Deputy Craig Hess was honored with a Community Leadership Award from the Washington Association of School Administrators on May 11th at the Everett Golf and Country Club. The award is presented to community members or groups in recognition of their outstanding contributions toward education.
“Deputy Craig Hess is a WASA Community Leader because of his unwavering support of the students and families of the Sultan School District,” said Sultan High School Principal Tami Nesting. “Sometimes the challenges brought before him require an immediate and very direct response… He consistently responds with an open mind and caring heart to resolve the issues at hand.”
Deputy Hess has been working with the Sultan High School since 2015. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2005, after transferring from the New York Police Department. Deputy Hess has said that his job at the high school isn’t so much about enforcement as it is about mentoring.
