Granite Falls Welcomes New Police Chief

GRANITE FALLS, WASH. – The City of Granite Falls welcomed a new police chief this week. Sgt. Christopher “Topher” Ferreira, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 12 years, was selected to serve as the Chief of the Granite Falls Police Department effective January 1, 2017.
A Marine Corps veteran, Sgt. Ferreira is a Massachusetts native who said he pursued a career in law enforcement to protect and work with the public.
“I wanted to work in a field where I could work with my community to improve the quality of life and make a difference,” said Sgt. Ferreira.
Sgt. Ferreira has previously worked in a variety of units at the Sheriff’s Office, including Special Investigations and School Services. He is a member of the Honor Guard and conducts training in active shooter response, emergency vehicle operation, and officer-safety. He is pursuing an AA in Criminal Justice.
The City of Granite Falls has contracted with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for police services since 2014.
