Granite Falls, Wash. – The 6 year-old boy recovered yesterday from the area around the Big Four Ice Caves likely drowned. His body was recovered from the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River, about a mile downstream from the trail’s footbridge, which crosses the river. He was located in the river by SnoHAWK 10, the Sheriff’s Office helicopter. When SAR teams reached him on foot, they unsuccessfully attempted to revive him with CPR.
The boy’s family confirmed that they had been in the area of the footbridge by the river prior to the boy’s disappearance.
Identification of the victim, as well as cause and manner of death, is still pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
