Attempted Child Abduction

Stanwood, Wash. – A 10 year old Stanwood area girl fights off abduction attempt. At 7:45 PM Saturday evening a 10 year old Stanwood girl was playing alone on the property behind her home on 316 St NW Stanwood. A man came upon her and pulled her into some nearby bushes. She told deputies she fought him off by hitting him and then ran back to her home and alerted her family. She described the man as a white male, balding, wearing a green or blue shirt. 

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deployed K-9 teams and a helicopter to search for the suspect. Units from Skagit County Sheriff, Washington State Patrol, Arlington Police and Stanwood Police assisted in the search. The suspect was not located. Snohomish County Sheriff’s detectives responded to the scene and will be investigating.
