Domestic Violence Stand-off Ends Peacefully
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Date: 03/11/2016
CONTACT: Capt. Susy Johnson, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office
Granite Falls, Wash. – 03/11//2016 12:40 PM
At 0714 AM this morning, SNOPAC Dispatch Center received a 911 call from an apartment in the 17800 block of Crooked Mile Road, Granite Falls, in unincorporated Snohomish County, Washington. The caller never spoke to the dispatcher, however a man could be heard violently assaulting a woman in the background. It was later determined that the man had thought he had broken the cell phone she had called 911 on, but it continued to stay connected to our Dispatch Center. Snohomish County Deputies arrived on scene but the male suspect refused to come out and he held the woman against her will. Deputies evacuated neighboring apartments once we were advised that there was a rifle in the unit. The Snohomish County “Region One SWAT Team” (consisting of officers from Everett Police Department and our Sheriff’s Office Deputies) set-up a perimeter and successfully negotiated the man into surrendering at approximately 1100 AM this morning. The man, a forty-two year-old convicted felon, is in custody and is currently being interviewed by detectives. The woman, a forty year-old, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The couple reside together at the Granite Falls apartment. We do not yet know the charges the suspect will be booked under at the county jail (detectives will make that decision later today).
