Injured Hiker Rescued Over the Weekend

INDEX, Wash. — A 51 year-old female hiker was rescued on Saturday after she had injured her knee and was unable to hike out on her own. She was camped at Dish Pan Gap in the Skykomish Ranger District Wilderness Area approximately 10 miles from the trailhead. Another hiker in the area volunteered to walk out and drove to Skykomish to get assistance around 1:30 p.m. The victim was hoisted out of the area by the helicopter rescue team and delivered to the Gold Bar fire station around 8 p.m.
