  • Become more aware of flood hazards and gain a greater understanding of how floodplains work;
  • Learn how to evaluate flood risk for specific properties;
  • Access practical guidance on preparing for floods, staying safe during flood events, minimizing flood damage, and recovering after a flood;
  • Learn about federal grant programs that can help homeowners pay for long-lasting flood protection;
  • Find phone numbers, websites and maps, including the Real-Time Flood Information System.

The Snohomish County Surface Water Management (SWM) and Road Maintenance divisions partner with the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) to reduce threats from major flooding and to improve emergency responses during flood events.

During flood emergencies, DEM uses Smart911 to warn residents and business owners in threatened areas. DEM also works with the Sheriff’s Office on evacuations, as they are needed.

For all life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
