Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) Research and Development Center

Snohomish County is establishing a world-leading Research and Development (R&D) Center focused on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) at Paine Field Airport. With this Center, Snohomish County and our partners, including Washington State University, will lead the world in developing new technologies to reduce the economy’s dependence on carbon-based fuels.

SAF offers the most immediate way to decarbonize aviation and can be used on the biggest, furthest flying aircrafts in the world.
