As a Juvenile Detention Officer, you will create a safe and secure environment for youth who have been arrested pending a court appearance or who have been sentenced to serve time after a court appearance.
JDOs care for the youth, ensuring their programming needs are meet. They manage behavior by the least restrictive means, coach youth, and use conflict resolution skills to teach and promote pro-social behavior.
JDOs work at the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in North Everett.
SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
You will need tact and patience, as well as a passion for serving youth and their families. Physical and mental fitness are important to success in this position.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/TRAINING THAT SUPPORTS YOUR SUCCESS
Experience working with youth, especially at-risk youth, is important. Training in the form of on the job training or post-secondary coursework in criminal justice, counseling, or social services will support your success in this role.
SALARY
$55,137.60 - $67,023.48 Annually
