Snohomish County Local Area Plan
The Future Workforce Alliance of Snohomish County recognizes the Local Area Plan as an important element to support Snohomish County’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic and its significant impacts to aerospace, manufacturing, tourism, and small businesses. In addition, the Plan supports and reinforces the Alliance’s vision that Snohomish County is a globally recognized hub for talent that supports our regional economy and creates economic opportunity for all. To achieve these twin goals of supporting the county’s recovery and providing economic opportunity for all, the Alliance embarked on a process to develop a Local Area Plan that incorporates and meets the needs of a broad array of stakeholders in Snohomish County and informs annual programmatic budgets.
Initial plan development was undertaken by Future Workforce Alliance staff in concert with Workforce Snohomish in early 2021 to update and reframe the plan to reflect COVID-19 impacts as well as the priorities of the Future Workforce Alliance’s vision, mission and goals. The draft plan was briefed to the Future Workforce Alliance Executive Committee and draft of the plan was briefed and provided to Future Workforce Alliance Board members for their review and input. Because community gatherings were not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the draft plan was presented to the community for a 30-day comment period beginning on May 7, 2021. The draft plan for public comment was placed on the Future Workforce Alliance website, a press announcement about the public comment period was released by the Executive’s office, and articles about the draft plan and public comment period was carried on local news websites. Following the close of the public comment period, the plan was finalized with input from the community and Future Workforce Alliance Board members. The Future Workforce Alliance Board approved the plan on June 17, 2021, and it was then submitted to the State Workforce Board.
