Snohomish County Public Works will be replacing a culvert under the road at 5617 Menzel Lake Rd during July/August 2019. The current culvert is on a fish-bearing stream and will be replaced with a 15-foot wide concrete box culvert. The new culvert will improve fish passage.
Construction began on July 15 and is anticipated to last until August 30, 2019.
To install the new culvert, the road will be closed south of Pilchuck Pl starting on July 22 and is anticipated to last until August 30, 2019. The detour route will be signed and utilize N Carpenter Rd, Robe Menzel Rd, S Granite Ave, and E Pioneer St. Local Access will remain available to the north and south of the closure area to residents and businesses on Menzel Lake Rd.
The estimated cost for this culvert replacement is $400,000 and will be funded through the Road Fund.
