Snohomish County Public Works will be replacing twin culverts under the road near 12325 Hand Rd east of Monroe during summer 2019. The current 24-inch diameter twin culverts are undersized which creates a partial barrier for fish. The twin culverts will be replaced with a single 14-foot wide concrete box culvert to allow for improved fish passage.
Work is anticipated to take place during summer 2019.
To install the new culvert the road will be closed near 12325 Hand Rd for approximately three weeks between July and September. The detour route will be signed and utilize Old Pipeline Rd, Woods Lake Rd and Florence Acres Rd. Local access will be provided to residents living between Old Pipeline Rd and Florence Acres Rd during the closure.
The estimated cost for this culvert replacement is $250,000 and will be paid for through Surface Water Utility funds.
