A report was conducted for Snohomish County that identifies barriers to fair housing in our community. The report, Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (PDF), or AI, includes a recommended five-year Fair Housing Action Plan to help address these barriers and improve access to housing.
The AI is based on research and analysis of housing issues as well as input from surveys, community meetings, and focus groups. The AI is required in order for the county and the Snohomish County Consortium to receive federal housing and community development grant funds.
The barriers and recommended actions are summarized in the Executive Summary of the AI. Eight action items have been recommended to address the housing barriers, such as:
Enhancing fair housing education and outreach
Reducing barriers in zoning regulations and land use policies
If you have a question about the AI or would like to request a paper copy of the AI, email Sue Tracy or call at 425-388-3269, or (TTY) 711. A reasonable number of paper copies will be made available to citizens and groups upon request.
To request a reasonable accommodation to provide information in the AI in an alternate format, email Sue Tracy or call at 425-388-3269, or (TTY) 711.
