Volunteers at Work

Make it Yours

Snohomish County is where you live, work, and play. Now, make it yours. Become part of the Sheriff’s Office team as a volunteer and make an impact on your community.

Integrity, dignity, commitment, and pride – these are the values of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. As a sheriff’s volunteer, you’ll get an insider’s view of these values at work by law enforcement in your community. You’ll work with people who share your dedication to public safety. You’ll have an opportunity to apply your unique talents while learning new skills.

Your work as a sheriff’s volunteer will help deliver services that we otherwise couldn't provide. And, you’ll develop relationships and the sense of satisfaction that comes from serving others.

Activities

We offer a variety of volunteer activities, including:

  • Citizen patrol, which includes disabled parking enforcement, radar speed checks, park and ride lot patrol, stolen vehicle search, and other non-hazardous patrol duties.
  • Clerical or data processing work, for those who prefer an office environment.
  • Crime prevention activities, including Kid Care Identification, and participation at events such as National Night Out and the Evergreen State Fair.
  • Project care track, which provides electronic transmitter bracelets to help us quickly locate and rescue those with a tendency to wander, such as people suffering from Alzheimer’s, Down Syndrome, Autism, and other conditions.

Screening

You’ll find that screening for our volunteer organization is more thorough than most organizations. That’s because our volunteers have access to Sheriff’s Office information and will sometimes hear and see material that is confidential.
