Summary of Changes to Civil Sessions March 27 2020

Judges Civil Motions: All matters will be heard without oral argument unless the judge requests that parties appear telephonically. Please contact the judge’s law clerk with questions.

Commissioner’s Calendars:

Commissioners Civil Motions: All matters will be heard without oral argument unless noted by the judicial officer that telephonic argument is requested.  Please check Odyssey Portal after 5:00 pm two days before your hearing to determine if telephonic argument is needed. 

Ex Parte: Ex Parte will be reviewed in Chambers. 

Non emergent orders should be submitted by:

1)      Ex parte by mail through the Clerk’s office.  Conformed copies/certified copies may be mailed back to you if requested

2)      May be delivered to C-123 and dropped off in the Ex Parte box.  Orders that are dropped off will be reviewed as judicial time allows and then filed.  Parties will need to access copies of the documents through Odyssey Portal or the digital archives.

Emergency Relief:

Those requesting emergent relief in essential matters including petitions for vulnerable adult protection orders, sexual assault protection orders, extreme risk protection orders, domestic violence protection orders and anti-harassment protection orders are encouraged to submit their pleadings and proposed orders electronically at https://snohomishcountywa.gov/PO .  Once processed, the order will be filed and a courtesy copy will be emailed to the submitting party.  If a person is unable to submit this electronically, they may bring their pleadings to room C-125, Facilitators office on the 1st floor of the courthouse.  The party may drop off their documents, along with contact information, and will be contacted when their orders have been reviewed by the judicial officer and are ready for pick up.


Those requesting emergent relief in other matters such as emergency show cause orders, contempt orders and immediate relief relating to children may bring their pleadings to room C-502, Court Administration on the 5
th floor of the courthouse.  The party will drop off their documents, along with contact information, and will be contacted when their orders have been reviewed by the judicial officer and are ready for pick up or they may be mailed if a self-addressed stamped envelope is provided.  Depending on the issue at hand, the judicial officer may decide to take telephonic testimony, and both parties may be contacted to set a hearing.


Domestic Motions
: Up to eight (8) matters may be confirmed per session.  All matters will be heard without oral argument unless noted by the judicial officer that telephonic argument is requested.  Please check Odyssey Portal after 5:00 pm two days before your hearing to determine if telephonic argument is needed.   The Department location assignment will also be noted, B or C for the party to provide to CourtCall when scheduling your telephonic hearing (see below).  Proposed orders should be delivered with working copies to the courthouse in room C-123. 

Domestic Violence/Anti-Harassment: Parties may appear for these hearings or may appear telephonically (see below for instructions).  Parties registering with CourtCall should report the hearing is scheduled for the DV/Anti-Harassment calendar.  Petitioners may contact the Facilitators office for assistance with a continuance if they are unable to attend. protection.orders@snoco.org  https://snohomishcountywa.gov/5540/Courthouse-Facilitator


Guardianship/Probate:
Up to fourteen (14) matters may be confirmed per session.  Motions on new petitions for guardianship will be heard telephonically.  All other matters will be heard without oral argument unless noted by the judicial officer that telephonic argument is requested.  Please check Odyssey Portal after 5:00 pm two days before your hearing to determine if telephonic argument is needed. Parties registering with CourtCall should report the hearing is scheduled for Department D. (see below).  Proposed orders should be delivered with working copies to the courthouse in room C-123. 


Interpreter Sessions
: Up to four (4) matters may be confirmed.  Petitions for domestic violence orders, anti-harassment orders, contempt matters and emergency parenting plan matters will have priority for confirmation.   Domestic violence and anti-harassment matters will be court confirmed.  All matters will be heard telephonically.  Parties registering with CourtCall should report the hearing is scheduled for Department D. (see below).  Proposed orders should be delivered with working copies to the courthouse in room C-123. 


Pro Se Dissolutions
: These matters will be heard without oral argument.  The parties must provide working copies, proposed orders and written testimony to room C-123 no later than noon one day prior to the hearing, otherwise their hearing will be stricken.  Background checks for the entry of parenting plans should be submitted at least 5 days prior to the hearing.


Attorney involved final orders
: These matters will be heard without oral argument and should be scheduled for Thursdays at 1:00 in Dept A.  Matters on this calendar shall be confirmed by noon 2 court days prior to the hearing.  The parties must provide working copies, proposed orders and written testimony to room C-123 no later than noon one day prior to the hearing, otherwise their hearing will be stricken.  Background checks for the entry of parenting plans should be submitted at least 5 days prior to the hearing.

 

ADR/Mediation Compliance Schedule Continuances: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 public health emergency, ADR/Mediation Compliance Hearings have been automatically continued. Use the table below to determine the new date for your hearing; hearings will be held at the same times (i.e. 1:00pm or 2:30pm) they were originally scheduled.

 If telephonic argument is requested by the judicial officer after confirmation, please look in Odyssey Portal after 5:00 pm two (2) days prior to the hearing to see if the hearing is noted as a telephonic.  Then follow the above instructions for scheduling your telephonic appearance.
